Our first hospital trip to Addenbrooke’s, a few weeks back, during lockdown can only be described as eerie. The highlight for Leo, Dom and myself was having a picnic in the boot of the car – it was actually quite fun!
The Addenbrooke’s cardiology team were superb, as always, and although we’re undoubtedly biased they do seem to be rather fond of her now.
In terms of prognosis it does look like more open heart surgery will be needed very soon – quicker than we hoped but nevertheless medically the right time.
As the next step Charlotte and Annie are going to GOSH by themselves tomorrow. Complete with painted floor octopus it sounds like GOSH have done a cracking job getting ready for outpatients.
Whether it be ‘self defence’, our coping mechanism or perhaps a preference for ‘blissful ignorance’ we don’t ask many questions about the future or plan out timelines / milestones. As much as we can we simply try our best just to enjoy today… in the river Cam, Annie couldn’t stop smiling… it was definitely one of those moments!
